چکیده

SSI and site amplification effects are investigated as influences on the seismic fragility of existing reinforced concrete moment-resisting frame dual frame-wall system buildings supported shallow foundations without interconnecting beams. We build upon a holistic methodology that accounts for soil–foundation–structure interaction using modular approach. calculate curves based nonlinear dynamic analyses various building structural typologies geometries, infill conditions, code provisions, soil profile materials characteristics. demonstrate during earthquakes may significantly increase system, which is reflected in its vulnerability. Moreover, especially prevalent soft profiles might modify their fragility. propose method to include and/or soil–structure large-scale earthquake vulnerability assessment modifiers, we express an easy-to-code equation form.

Fragility Curves for Reinforced Concrete Frames with Lap-Spliced Columns

Placing column lap-splice in the locations of possible nonlinear deformation may adversely affect the structures response to strong ground motions. Localization of damage in splice zone may change the structural response and prevent the load redistribution and development of a uniform pattern of nonlinear excursions among the various members. Validated by existing laboratory experiments, this s...

Assessment of Structure-Specific Fragility Curves for Soft Storey Buildings Implementing IDA and SPO Approaches

Soft storey building is popular due to the functional and aesthetic purpose, despite its weakness in resisting seismic excitation. Nonlinear Static (Pushover) Analysis (POA) is a time saving and simple assessment procedure prosposed in Eurocode 8 (EC8). However, its reliability in designing structure still remains a question. At the first stage, seismic performance of several building models us...

Influence of Infill Panels and their Distribution on Seismic Behavior of Existing Reinforced Concrete Buildings

Infills can highly influence the seismic response of a Reinforced Concrete (RC) building: generally speaking, their presence leads to an increase in global stiffness and strength, but their brittle behavior can result in an increase of displacement demand if a certain threshold of seismic intensity is overcome. Moreover, presence of infills often leads to a change in the collapse mechanism comp...

Lightning-Generated Fields in Reinforced concrete Buildings

This contribution presents a study, model and validation of the amplitudes of the residual fields inside a one-story building for different locations of lightning impacts. The special case where a second gridded structure exist inside the main building, forming a box-in-the-box configuration, is analyzed. We show also that formulas for magnetic field attenuation found in the relevant IEC docume...
